Funeral service for Leta June (Henderson) Miller, 76, Duncan, will be held Friday, May 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sterling United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Dye, officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Miller passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at her home in Duncan. She was 76 years, 10 months, and 15 days old.
Leta June(Henderson) Miller was born June 17, 1935 in Yukon, OK to J.W. and LockeyV (Denney) Henderson. June attended Sterling Schools until 1952 when she married Dean Hoy Miller October 31. June and Dean worked side by side on their farm East of Sterling. Together they raised cattle, watermelons, peanuts, and tomatoes. The two were married for 49 years when Dean passed away in 2001. Even after her husband’s passing, June continued to live on the farm until 2003 when she moved to Duncan to be closer to her daughter. Leta June was a wonderful wife, mother, and Nana and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Carpenter and her husband Frank, of Duncan; 1 brother, Johnny Henderson and his wife Peggy of Nowata; 2 granddaughters: Shawna Voorhees and her husband Darrin and Sasha Hitt; and 2 great grandchildren: Austin and Kyla Voorhees.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Hoy Miller; her parents, J.W. and LockeyV Henderson; 1 sister, Peggy Rowe; and 1 great granddaughter, Chloe Voorhees.
