Celebration of life service for former Elgin, Oklahoma, resident Roland Keith McDonald, 53, of Yukon, Oklahoma, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the Fine Arts Center of the Elgin Public School with Larry Thoma, pastor of the Elgin First Assembly of God, officiating.
Keith died on Tuesday, July 5th, 2011, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Elgin Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Elgin Funeral Home, Elgin, Oklahoma.
Keith was born on April 14, 1958, in Lawton, Oklahoma, James Wesley and Mattie Lou Glover McDonald. He grew up in Elgin and graduated from Elgin High School in 1976. He attended Seminole Junior College for 2 years and played baseball there. Keith married Janet Mansel on October 14, 1976 in Lawton.
He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, and graduated in 1980, receiving his bachelor's degree in business and accounting. In 1981, they moved to Oklahoma City and Keith began working at Pete Merrick & Mitchell. After moving to Yukon in 1983, he went work for Goldco. He also worked for Mortgage Resources in Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma Water Resource Board, where he worked for 5 years. He then went to work as an investment banker for Leo Oppenheim Investment Bank which later became a part of Bank of Oklahoma in 1998. In 2001, he began working for Wells Nelson & Associates and was employed with them until his death.
Keith loved his family and loved spending time with them. He helped coach all of his children's little league baseball and basketball teams. He enjoyed work and was a driven man, he was always pursuing and achieving success at whatever he did. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He enjoyed the outdoors and farming. To his family, Keith is a symbol of kindness, hard-work, accomplishment, and generosity.
He is survived by his wife, Janet McDonald of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brandon Keith and Jennifer McDonald of Elgin, Oklahoma, and Brett Heath McDonald of Yukon, Oklahoma; his daughter and her fiance, Ashley Nicole McDonald and Kaylon Bates of Yukon, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Madison Ann and Gracie Lee McDonald; his parents, James and Mattie McDonald; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James A. and Sue and Eddie and Debbie McDonald; his sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Larry Cox; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Burl and Donna Mansel; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve and Patti Mansel and Roger and Terri Mansel; all of Elgin, Oklahoma; 10 nieces and nephews, a host of other family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Ona McDonald and Jim and Hattie Glover.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday evening with the family accepting guests from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Elgin Funeral Home.
