Alfred was born March 24, 1928 in Apache, Oklahoma to Julio and Carolina (Ramirez) Calderon. He attended Elgin Public Schools and married Arline (Sandy) Harrel on June 15, 1949 in Wichita Falls, TX. They were happily married for 67 years. He worked at Home Dcor and Air Conditioning for many years and later began working in sheet metal, where he was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 124 and Sheet Metal Workers International Association for over 40 years. He and Arline were well known at the coffee shop at Balls Caf in Sterling. He was a member of the Elgin First Baptist Church and rejoiced in singing hymns and attending church services.
