Obituary for Carl Luther Parsons Sr.

Funeral service for Carl Parsons Sr., 83, of Fletcher, Oklahoma, will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2017, at the Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Scott Carper, officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home. Mr. Parsons passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 83. Carl Luther Parsons Sr. was born October 18, 1933 in Kingsport, Tennessee to David and Della (Hargrove) Parsons. He grew up in Kingsport where he attended school. After high school, Carl served his country in the United States Army from 1951 until he retired in 1971. Carl married Marge Tuck on November 23, 1977 and the two were married for 39 years. He helped build the wallboard plant in Fletcher and worked as a route distributor. He attended church locally until his health no longer allowed. He loved to fish and bird watching. Carl also enjoyed making jerky which earned him the nickname of Jerky Man. He is survived by his wife, Marge Parsons, of the home; 1 daughter, Elizabeth Corrigan and her husband Jim, of NJ; 3 sons: Ronald Parsons and his wife Denise, of CO, Patrick Meshell and his wife Renee`, of Marlow, and Randy Meshell and his wife Shannon, of TX; 1 brother, Ronald Parsons and his wife Anne, of AL; 1 daughter in law, Jana Parsons, of Harrah; 1 son in law, Tom Leonidus, of WA; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: David and Della Parsons; 1 son, Carl Parsons Jr.; 1 daughter, Gloria Leonidus; 1 brother, Julius Parsons; and 2 sisters: Dorothy Guy and Pauline Fasque. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fletcher Food Bank.
