Mrs. Hamer passed from this earth to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 86.

Deloras Ann (Pittman) Hamer was born January 21, 1931 in Minco, Oklahoma to Claud and Helen Pittman. Deloras Ann grew up in Binger, Oklahoma with 2 brothers and graduated from Binger High School in 1948. During her senior year she was saved and baptized at First Baptist Church, Binger. That summer she moved to Chickasha and lived in one of the judge’s apartments. She was employed by Kress’s Department store for the summer. They wouldn’t allow her to wear a scarf because you could steal things. She then attended Southwestern Institute of Technology in Weatherford, Oklahoma for one semester. During the winter months of traveling back and forth to college her dad, Claud, would cut an onion and rub it on the windshield to keep the ice from freezing on it. Deloras Ann was on a double date one night and didn’t realize she would fall in love with the other man, Charles F. Hamer. After several months of dating Charles, on March 26, 1949 they decided to drive to Oklahoma City and get their marriage license then proceeded to drive to Anadarko to the Methodist Church parsonage and asked the preacher to marry them. He did! They then headed to Deloras’ grandparents 25th Wedding Anniversary in Minco where they announced they had just gotten married, and finally arriving at their honeymoon destination, Ninnekah, OK. She loved having company and could never do enough for those who stopped by. She loved her family and all the grandkids. She loved being an artist, traveling, stopping at garage sales, and sorting pennies during VBS. Deloras Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fletcher where she lived for 12 years before moving to Oklahoma City. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Fletcher/Elgin and Mountain View Home Extension Club.

She is survived by her children: son, Charlie Hamer and his wife Georgia, of Oklahoma City; daughter, Diana Hamer Hawkins and her husband Kent, of Weatherford; and daughter Claudia Hamer Herrin and her husband Dick, of Fletcher; 1 brother, Nick Pittman and his wife Gail, of Bethany; 5 grandchildren: Tera and Quinton Underwood, of OKC, Dustin and Jennifer Hamer, of OKC, Joel and Alycia Hawkins, of Dallas, Mandi and Jayson Wilson, of Sterling, and Hayden and Ashley Herrin, of Sterling; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. Hamer; her parents: Claud and Helen Pittman; 1 brother, Donald Pittman; and 1 granddaughter, Karlee Hawkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (Alzheimer’s), 825 NE 13th St., OKC, OK 73104.
