Obituary for James Samuel Vaughn

Funeral service for James Vaughn, 88, of Cement, Oklahoma, will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home. Our father left this world on Monday, February 20, 2017 to live with his Heavenly Family. James Samuel Vaughn was born June 9, 1928 in Hilliard, Missouri to James and Lillie (Turner) Vaughn. He was raised around the Hilliard, Poplar Bluff, Missouri. James served his country in the United States Navy from August 1951 to February 1954. He worked as a railroad worker, farmer, and an automotive mechanic most of his life until his retirement. He was a man who loved the Lord and being with his family. He liked to travel and loved the receiving and giving of a good joke. He is survived by 1 son, Harold Vaughn, of Cement; 2 daughters: Connie Gadberry and her husband Robert of Yukon and Carolyn Ferguson and her husband Bobby of Oklahoma City; 2 stepdaughters: Charlene �Midge� Conley and her husband Billy and Mary Whitlock and her husband Stanley; 1 brother, Richard Vaughn and his wife Pearl of Fletcher; 2 sisters: Barbara Hinton and Glenda Farr and her husband Jerry of Missouri; 7 grandchildren: Tonya, James, Julia, and Lily Leach, Christopher Gadberry, and Aschly and Alysia Vaughn-Weiss; 2 step grandchildren: Corrina Sharpton and Riley Ferguson; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Lillie Vaughn; 3 wives: Shirley, Norma, and Juanita Vaughn; 2 sons: James Kenneth Vaughn and Samuel Ray Vaughn; and several brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
