Obituary for Clarence Roy Dacus

Memorial service for Clarence Dacus, 86, of Cyril, Oklahoma, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the Cyril Church of Christ with Minister Jarred Pettijohn, officiating. Burial will be at Celestial Gardens under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home.

Mr. Dacus passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 86.

Clarence Roy Dacus was born November 8, 1931, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Cecil and Minnie (Dodds) Dacus. Clarence grew up in the Lindsay/Bradley area. He graduated from Bradley High School in 1951. He joined the Army and served for 2 years, where he made Corporal and was a Gun Commander. Clarence farmed for 11 years in the Lindsay/Maysville area. On April 18, 1956, Clarence married Mildred Carlene Howard in Pauls Valley, OK. As of 2018, they were married for 62 years. He was baptized into the Lord’s Church in 1962. Clarence was a faithful member of the Cyril Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder for 4 years and the treasurer for 31 years. In 1967, Clarence moved his family to Cyril, Oklahoma, where he worked at the APCO Oil Refinery for the next 10 years. He also served on the Cyril School Board for 10 years. He served as president of the Company Credit Union Board for 3 years. When ORC closed, Clarence started working at the Southwestern Plant of Public Service Company of Oklahoma in Washita, OK, where he worked for 12 years until his retirement in 1996.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Mildred Carlene (Howard) Dacus, of the home; 1 son, Steven Dacus and his wife Chris, of Fletcher; 2 daughters: Pamela Talbert and her husband Harold, of Cyril and Rebecca Darnell and her husband James Darnell, of Haysville, KS; Grandchildren: Blake Dacus and his wife Nikki, Davin Dacus and his wife Jessica, and Jessica Marie Dacus, all of Fletcher; Travis Rucker and his wife Jo Ressa, of Mt. View; Kiel Talbert and his wife Kristi, of Elk City; Tyson Talbert, of Hubbard, TX; Sarah Darnell, of Las Vegas, NV; Leah Darnell, of Haysville, KS; Seth Brown and his wife Julie, of Genesco, IL; Isaac Brown and his wife Alysia, of Saint Francisville, LA; Great Grandchildren: Tyler Gordon and his wife Stacia, Aubrey Dacus, Declan Dacus, Clayton Jenkins, Rylee and Delanie Rucker, Koltn and Kenzie Talbert, Brody, Isabel, and Breanna Brown, and Rhett Brown; Brothers: Theo, Earl, Elmer Dacus and his wife Inetha, all of Lindsay; and 1 sister, Eula Mae Hasley, of Ark City, KS.

He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Karen Carlene Brown; parents: Cecil and Minnie Dacus; 2 brothers: Vernon and Homer Dacus; and 2 sisters: Wanda Pratt and Alice Merrill.
